Gosick Review

Hello everyone! So today I'm going to be talking about the anime Gosick. A really good show from Studio Bones! Oh how I love them so... But anyway on with the review!

The Story
Gosick follows a school in a made up country in Europe. Where new boy Kujo has recently transfered to from Japa. Upon arriving at this school he finds a library at the top of a tower building where he meets a girl called Victorica, and the story progresses from there as they solve crimes in a slightly episodic way. Well until around midway through where they decide to scrap it for a world war story instead, which honestly made me kind of annoyed as I enjoyed the episodic crime solving charm the show had.

The Characters
With this show there are only two characters that you can really talk about. Kujo the kind hearted transfer student that was entertaining to watch from time to time but not the greatest. And Victorica, the stubborn antisocial girl, who is obsessed with stuff that is out of the ordinary and books. I personally enjoyed her as a character more the Kujo.

Animation and Soundtrack
The animation is standard for a bones show, and that means it was amazing, I really loved how beautiful they made the backgrounds! There is so much detail to them and the tones used suit the situations really well. The soundtrack I though was OK, nothing special, however the opening and second ending were both really good and I felt like it deserves some form of mention.

My Opinion
Honestly I thought it was a very average show in the end, if it stuck to the format it had during the first half of the show I felt it would have been a lot better off. I was actually kind of disappoint by this show as Studio Bones are one of my favourite one studios and this wasn't the best anime I've ever seen.

Final Verdict
I know I didn't enjoy the show as much as I hoped I would, but I'm still going to give it a very respectable 7.23 out of 10. As much as I didn't really enjoy it, I can give credit where credit is due, it wasn't all that bad and I feel it should be something you should watch. At the time I am unaware of any licencing for the UK or America but I will correct it if I discover it has been licence.

If you have seen the show Gosick, do you agree with what I said? Or do you disagree? Let me know! I love varying opinions!

Fairy Tail Anime Review

Hello everyone and welcome my first anime review! Yes I know Fairy Tail is still going with Fairy Tail (2014), however I decided I would review the first part of the show.

Fairy Tail is show spanning 175 episodes eith only 20-30 episodes of the show being filler, which in all honesty is really good considering most long running shounen shows can about 100 episodes of filler!

The Story

The story of Fairy Tail is set in a world where magic is common and people use magic to make a living. The show follows a magic guild called Fairy Tail and the adventures they have together. With the fact that this is a long running shounen show they have several arcs in which they have different enemies in check one much like the stand shounen series.

The Characters

Fairy Tail has a large cast! This can be a good thing and a bad thing. Large cast means you are more likely to find someone you can relate to but at the same time there is a chance of each character not getting much screen time. However they are quite good and give everyone just enough screen time to be able to know what the person is like. The main characters of the show are Natsu, Grey, Lucy, Happy, Erza and after 50 episode Wendy. Natsu is your hot head main character who thinks with his fists instead of his brain. Lucy is the more reserved as a character, she is caring and kind and always thinks about the rest of the guild and steps up and can really throw down when her friends need her the most. Grey is pretty much exactly like Natsu only he thinks before he acts, however due to him and Natsu being so similar they tend to fight alot but more of a fight between brothers. Happy is a cat with magical powers, and is Natsu's best friend, they are so alike and work well as a team. Erza is the most intelligent of the main cast, she thinks every attack through and every little detail in order to win and protect those who she cares about. Wendy is the child of the group, however don't let her cute looks deceive you! Because when it comes down to it she is one of the strongest in the guild.

The Animation and Sound

The animation of this show is really amazing. It is never lacking at any moment. Even during the battles, the animation keeps up and even steps up a notch during the battles.

The soundtrack is brilliant aswell! Upbeat and calm when there just having fun in the guild. Dramatic and tense whenever something happens to develop the plot. The music fits the show really well and always fits no matter what the situation.

My Opinion

I actually really enjoyed this anime. I loved the action, I loved the comedy and even loved the emotional parts! While watching this show you, and you see them all enjoying themselves in the guild hall, you feel like you watching a family reunion and not a group of friends. To pull that off takes a lot of work and great acting. This show is extremely entertaining.

Final Verdict

After taking into consideration all the factors I've talked about and my own personal opinion, I'm going to give this a 7.84 out of 10. This show is a great show and defiantly worth the watch. Currently this show is available via Funimation in America and I believe MangaUK for the UK.

So that it for this review, let me know what you thought of Fairy Tail and would you have given it a different score? Or do you completely agree with me? Let me know!
